Law Origins - Roundtable Law College

1. Is God's Law, the Bible & church legally relevant anymore?

Qld Supreme Court's Honourable Justice Stanley Jones

Justice Stanley Jones - annual prayer worship service - in St Monica's Cathedral Cairns 3rd Monday of July 2001 – service held every year to mark start of new law.

Seated in background is Catholic Bishop James Foley D.D., and Anglican Bishops George Tung Yep and Malcolm Arthurs. Behind them and on the sanctuary out of picture are ~20 ministers from different denominations.

In the congregation included Qld MLA's the honourable Desley Boyle and Dr Lesley Clark. Plus a majority of Cairns practicing barristers and solicitors, plus senior police and community leaders.

The college's only comment is that as you look at the photo, and study the Red Mass links below, that on the face of it – it appears all of the afore-mentioned, plus even US President George Bush have voted with their feet in agreeing that God, God's Law, the Bible, the church, church opinions, and church teachings are all legally relevant.

5. Are Church Opinions and Teachings Legally Relevant Anymore?

Catechism of catholic church – a short selection

Following are some Roundtable references. Please refer to each on-line link. Descriptions are a guide – not actual text

Just Litigation Principle – derived from 2243”

The first time students look through paragraph 2243 of the Catholic Catechism, it is self-evident that how, when, where and why lawyers know when to file in court is based directly on this paragraph – as well as other sacred texts from different religious traditions.

So in practice, at least being “aware” of different parts of the Catholic Catechism very quickly broadens your understanding of “adversarial and contested” legal procedures, as well as equity, and how the whole legal system can work for you.

Documents of Vatican II

Sample Document: DECLARATION ON RELIGIOUS FREEDOM Dignitatis Humanae

Comment: It is a real tragedy if those teaching and studying uni subjects such as law & political science, as well as MPs remain ignorant of the 16 Documents Of Vatican II. Why? Because so many universal human aspirations are articulated in these important historical documents. Bible & doctrinal footnote references. Index above gives instant free access to all.
